Ahead of a meeting on the weekend in Serie A, Salernitana and Juventus are set to clash in the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia where the Turin giants are looking to put together another cup run after their longest run without a trophy in 13 years.

From the 2011/12 through to the 2019/20 campaign, Juventus secured every single Serie A title and also won five Suppercoppa Italiana trophies alongside five Coppa Italia wins.

Prior to this, the Old Lady went four seasons without a trophy after winning Serie B making this two-and-a-half season spell without silverware their longest since 2011.

On the other hand, they are well on track to get back to winning ways. Juventus are currently behind Inter Milan in Serie A by only two points and well within a two-horse title race with last season's Champions League runners-up.

They are also joined by the likes of AC Milan in the Coppa Italia and no doubt one of the favourites from the remaining sides left in the competition, especially as they are expected to defeat Salernitana this week.

Max Allegri's side are currently on a 13-game unbeaten run in Italian football which gives them the longest current unbeaten.

Allegri saw his men defeat Roma 1-0 over the weekend, as Adrien Rabiot popped up with another goal.

This unbeaten run has also seen the club beat the likes of the champions Napoli, the in-form Fiorentina, Milan at the San Siro and also draw with the league leaders Inter.

Salernitana, however, have a completely different look this season. In fact, after narrowly avoiding the drop by in their past two seasons since earning promotion from Serie B in 2020/21, they are currently down in last place.

The gap is only two points on Hellas Verona in the safe spot of 17th, but with just two wins on the board and only 15 goals scored, fans are understandably concerned. Salernitana have also let in the most goals in Serie A this season with 36 going in.

These two sides will battle it out twice this week, and in reality, Juventus likely win them both.

For this Coppa Italia clash, Forebet predicts another victory for the Serie A title contenders and for the game to see under 2.5 goals with the Turin giants aiming to move to a 14-game unbeaten across all competitions.
