Can Juventus seal progression to the Coppa Italia semifinals against Lazio?
2753

Juventus will take a 2-0 lead into the Coppa Italia semifinal second leg on Tuesday night against rival Lazio.

As long as the Bianconeri do not lose their lead, they will reach the final once more. Will our Forebet score predictor back Juve to progress to the Coppa Italia final?

After a scoreless first half in Turin, Juventus turned up the pressure in the second half versus Lazio, scoring twice in the span of 14 minutes to win 2-0. Goals from Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic in the 50th and 64th minutes respectively gave Juve the victory.

Lazio actually out shot Juventus on the night, 11-9, but they failed to register any of those shots on target. The Biancocelesti also had 60% of the possession, yet couldn’t turn it into goals.

Can Lazio turn the semifinal around? Playing at home should help the Rome-based club but head coach Igor Tudor’s team has to find a way to play better football.

Since Tudor’s arrival in mid-March after the dismissal of Maurizio Sarri, Lazio have improved in Serie A. They are up to seventh in the league and just three points off the top five. Lazio won four of their last five Serie A games.

Lazio and Juventus have met on the pitch 75 times since 1993 in all competitions. Juventus hold the edge over Lazio with a record of 41W-14D-19L. The Bianconeri scored 122 goals in those 75 games compared to Lazio’s 79.

However, Juventus’s away form could play into the hands of Lazio. Juve failed to win any of their last five road matches.

History isn’t necessarily on Lazio’s side. In the last 34 matches played at the Stadio Olimpico versus Juventus, Lazio posted a record of 11W-6D-17L. The Biancocelesti scored 37 times compared to Juventus’s 42.

Vlahovic is Juventus’s goal scoring stats leader, with 17 goals this season. Juventus were banned from Europe this season, meaning that Serie A and the Coppa Italia are their only competitions to win.

Sitting third in Serie A, Juventus can only realistically win the cup competition. Vlahovic is Juventus’s only 10-plus goal scorer this term.

Ciro Immobile is once again Lazio’s leading goal scorer. However, now 34-years old, Immobile’s goal scoring impact is diminishing. He has only 10 goals this season in all competitions.

Can Lazio turn around the tie at home or will it be business as usual for Juventus in the Coppa Italia?

Our score prediction is for another Juventus win. The Bianconeri should post a 1-0 win, eliminating Lazio and moving on to the Coppa Italia final.
