Two giants of the Serie A world will park their league form to do battle in the Coppa Italia this Wednesday night as AC Milan welcomes Atalanta to the San Siro for a cup quarter-finals clash.

Neither side will be too happy with their current league form, and with AC Milan also dropping into the Europa League after finishing third in their Champions League group, this Coppa Italia run might be all the club has to boast of this season.

They are still third in Serie A, but with Inter Milan already nine points above them in first place and looking seemingly untouchable at the summit of Serie A, Milan are all but fighting for a spot in the top four this season.

Fiorentina in fourth are sitting behind the Serie A giants by six points, and with Juventus ahead of Milan in second by seven, the Rossoneri are set to stay in third spot for a little longer at least.

Last time out, Milan managed to defeat Empoli 3-0 with goals each from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Olivier Giroud and Chaka Traore.

Prior to this, the club were in Coppa Italia action once more, as Luka Jovic scored two first half goals before another finish from Traore and a goal from Rafael Leao as the club eased to a 4-1 win over Cagliari.

Combine this with a 1-0 win over Sassuolo, a 2-2 draw with Salernitana, a routine 3-0 home win over Monza and a 2-1 victory over in the North East of England over Newcastle United, it now means Milan are on a six-game unbeaten run since losing to Atalanta in the last outing between the two.

Ademola Lookman was the hero for Atalanta that day, as he scored a goal in either half alongside Milan's finishers, Giroud and Jovic.

However, it was Luis Muriel who stole the headlines with a 95th-minute goal to steal all three points. Davide Calabria was also sent off in that game.

Atalanta's run of form has been relatively similar in the past month, losing to only Bologna across three separate competitions.

They also drew 1-1 with Roma in the capital last time out and defeated Sassuolo 3-1 in the Coppa Italia round of 16 before that.

Milan's loanee, Charles De Ketelaere, was the star of the show in the last Coppa Italia battle with a goal in either half alongside a finish from Aleksei Miranchuk.

Forebet predicts a win for Milan and under 2.5 goals.
