Spain showed glimpses of the Spanish tika-taka of old against Slovakia yesterday, as Luis Enrique’s men dismantled and demolished Marek Hamsik and co. 5-0 in Seville.
We moved one step closer to the knockout rounds last night as Group D finished at Euro 2020, where Scotland were turned over by Croatia just as England sealed top spot in the group.
Euro 2020 continued with Austria meeting Ukraine as the Netherlands dispatched of North Macedonia in Goran Pandev’s last game for his nation.
France kicked off proceedings at Euro 2020 this past weekend, as the world champions struggled once again, whilst Germany sent a frightening reminder to the rest of Europe with a win over the defending champions, Portugal.
Russia have completely changed the dynamic of Group B after their narrow 1-0 victory over Finland, and despite chances galore in the opening 20 minutes for both sides, the game lacked many talking points in the end.

Sunday’s Carabao Cup final meant there were only eight Premier League games this weekend. However, it’s fair to say that there was no shortage of excitement in England’s top flight on Matchday 28.
Manchester City opened up a seven-point lead over third-place Leicester as Pep Guardiola’s men beat the Foxes on Saturday. However, the gap between Man City and Liverpool remains a mammoth 22 points as the Reds came from behind to beat West Ham on Monday night.
They say the table doesn’t lie. And if that is the case, then things went very much according to plan in the Bundesliga on Matchday 22. The top five teams all claimed victories, while the bottom three suffered defeats. Meanwhile, there were plenty of goals, as only one game ended goalless.
Barcelona beat Real Betis in a five-goal thriller but the Catalan giants remain three points behind league leaders Real Madrid after Los Blancos thrashed Osasuna. Getafe cemented third place with a thumping victory over Valencia, while relegation strugglers Celta Vigo and Espanyol both won.
PSG maintained their 12-point lead at the top with victory over Lyon, while Marseille are now eight points clear of third-place Rennes. Lille, Strasbourg and Monaco all won, but Angers and St-Etienne continue to slide down the table.
Real Madrid maintained their three-point lead at the top with victory over fierce rivals Atletico, while Barcelona beat Levante. Getafe’s fine run continued with a third straight win, but the bottom two sides – Celta Vigo and Espanyol – both lost again.
Leicester and Chelsea kicked off the weekend’s Premier League action with a thrilling draw before Liverpool thrashed Southampton to move 22 points clear at the top.
The top four sides – Juventus, Inter, Lazio and Roma – all failed to win on Matchday 21, while fifth-place Atalanta humiliated Torino in their own backyard with a thumping 7-0 victory.
The midweek action in England’s top-flight dished up plenty of drama. Burnley claimed their first victory at Old Trafford since 1962, while Aston Villa snatched a dramatic late winner in their relegation six-pointer against Watford.
Germany’s top club have been enjoying their traditional winter break over the festive period. But after almost a month without any action, the Bundesliga returned with a bang.
Can anyone stop Liverpool? Jurgen Klopp’s men are now 16 points clear at the top after seeing off Manchester United at Anfield.
The points were shared after PSG and Monaco ended 3-3, while Brest got the better of Toulouse in another high-scoring encounter. St-Etienne continue to slide down the table, while Marseille remain just five points behind the league leaders.
