Saturday’s Round-Up

Brighton heaped more misery on Tottenham as the Seagulls picked up a convincing win in Saturday’s early kick-off. Neal Maupay opened the scoring after 3 minutes before 19-year-old Aaron Connolly bagged a brace on his first Premier League start.

Aston Villa thrashed Norwich 5-1 at Carrow Road. Wesley scored twice and missed a penalty while there were also goals for Jack Grealish, Conor Hourihane and Douglas Luiz. Josip Drmic grabbed a late consolation for the hosts.

Watford and Sheffield United played out a goalless draw at Vicarage Road, while a Jeff Hendrick strike was enough to ensure Burnley condemned Everton to their fourth league defeat in a row.

James Maddison thought he’d rescued a point for Leicester after he cancelled out Sadio Mane’s first-half effort with just 10 minutes to go. However, James Milner converted a penalty deep into added time to make it 8 wins from 8 league matches for Liverpool this season.

Crystal Palace came from behind to beat West Ham in the late kick-off on Saturday. Sebastien Haller opened the scoring for the Hammers, but Patrick van Aanholt and Jordan Ayew turned to match around and propelled the Eagles up to sixth in the table.

Super Sunday

Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi fired Chelsea to a convincing win over Southampton. Danny Ings pulled one back for the hosts to make it 2-1, but the Blues comfortably secured back-to-back league wins.

An Adama Traore brace saw Wolves pick up a shock 2-0 win away at Manchester City. The hosts enjoyed 77% possession as well as registering 18 shots, but Wolves held on and struck late on to hand Man City their second league defeat in 4 matches.

Arsenal beat Bournemouth 1-0 in an uneventful game and the Emirates Stadium. David Luiz’s header on 9 minutes turned out to be the difference between the two teams.

Matthew Longstaff starred on his Premier League debut and scored the winner for Newcastle as Manchester United lost 1-0 in the final match of the weekend.
