Coppa Italia action is back this week with Cremonese taking on Roma in the Italian capital where Jose Mourinho is looking to put together yet another cup run in charge of La Lupa.

Mourinho has guided Roma towards two finals in his stint so far with the club, winning the Europa Conference League before a loss to Sevilla in the final of last season’s Europa League.

This is all the club have had to shout about under the former Real Madrid boss, as below-par Serie A performances have meant no finish in the Champions League spots during his tenure.

Things are looking the same this season with Roma sitting all the way down in seventh and behind the top four by five points ahead of the weekend's return to Serie A action.

Roma have still managed to put together an excellent goals difference record which is only bettered by those in the top three, as Mourinho's side have scored 30 goals and let in 20, winning eight of their 18 Serie A fixtures.

They did, however, lose 1-0 in Turin to Juventus last time out, although they managed to beat the champions Napoli at home before that loss.

The defeat to Juventus capped off a topsy-turvy December for Roma, as they managed to beat only Sassuolo in the league and ease past Sheriff Tiraspol in the final Europa League group game of the season.

Such a win in the Europa League did mean that the Italian giants finished top of their group, and alongside the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and fellow Serie A heavyweights AC Milan, they remain one of the favourites to win the competition.

As for Cremonese, they dropped down into Serie B after a terrible campaign last season saw them relegated by four points in the end for what was their first Serie A run in over 20 years.

In the second tier, Cremonese are down in fifth after 19 games and sit behind the league leaders Parma by nine points. On the other hand, this keeps them well within a shout of the playoffs this season.

There is not much to suggest that the Serie B side gets an upset here although Cremonese did manage to beat Roma in the last meeting between these two in last season's Serie A campaign, as Frank Rsadjout and Daniel Ciofani scored goals each alongside a finish from Leonardo Spinazzola.
