Juventus and Inter set for Coppa Italia semi-final first leg

Juventus and Inter Milan will meet at the Allianz Arena for the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final showdown on Tuesday night.

Inter are the defening Coppa Italia champions, having clinched their eighth title last year. With 14 titles to their name, record winners Juventus have triumphed in five of the previous eight seasons.

Despite a 15-point deduction, Juventus find themselves six points behind Inter Milan in the current Serie A standings. So, who will come out on top in Turin?

Max Allegri’s men kicked off their Coppa Italia campaign with a 2-1 victory over Monzo, courtesy of goals from Moise Kean and Federico Chiesa.

Juventus then booked their place in the semi-finals with a 1-0 win against Lazio, as Brazilian centre-back Bremer scored the only goal of the game.

Not only have Juve won each of their last five matches in all competitions, but they have also won eight of their previous nine.

Having suffered a solitary defeat in their past 13 outings – picking up 11 victories along the way – Juventus will be confident of gaining a first-leg advantage on Tuesday.

Inter Milan, meanwhile, kicked off their Coppa Italia campaign with an extra-time victory over Parma, as Francesco Acerbi netted the winning goal in the 110th minute.

In the quarter-finals, Inter claimed a 1-0 victory over Atalanta, with Matteo Darmian’s goal sending the club into the last four.

It is worth noting, however, that Inter suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Fiorentina on Saturday, extending their winless run to four games in the process.

Having lost four of their previous six matches across all competitions, Inter Milan head into Tuesday’s clash on a poor run of form.

Head-to-head: Across the past six Coppa Italia meetings between Juventus and Inter, both sides have claimed two wins, in addition to two draws.

Given that five of the last six meetings across all competitions have produced under 2.5 goals, Tuesday’s clash is likely to be a low-scoring affair.

Team news: Juventus will be without the injured Paul Pogba for the foreseeable future, while Federico Chiesa and Leonardo Bonucci are doubts for Tuesday.

Inter Milan’s injury list contains Hakan Calhanoglu and Milan Skriniar, while there are question marks over the fitness of Federico Dimarco.

Although Inter have registered a number of below-par results of late, the reigning Coppa Italia champions are expected to rise to the occasion on Tuesday.

Forebet predicts that Inter will hold Juventus to a low-scoring draw at the Allianz Arena, setting up a pivotal second-leg showdown at the San Siro.
