Napoli are nine points clear of second-place AC Milan in Serie A. On Tuesday night, Napoli will host Cremonese at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in the Coppa Italia. The winner of the round of 16 match will face off with Roma in the quarterfinals on February 1.
Cremonese are having a great run in the Coppa Italia. However, the team is struggling in Serie A. Cremonese are bottom of the Serie A table and are the only team in the league not to win a match this season.
La Cremo have won just one match in all competitions this season, with the victory coming at the beginning of the campaign in the Coppa Italia against Ternana 3-2.
Since then, Cremonese have lost or drawn all 19 of their matches in all competitions. Cremonese go into the Coppa Italia round of 16 on a four-game losing streak.
Napoli are coming off a brilliant 5-1 win on Friday night against Juventus. It was a complete performance by Luciano Spalletti’s team, as Victor Osimhen scored twice. Spalletti is likely to pick a strong squad against Cremonese.
Napoli are fighting on three fronts for trophies. They are top of Serie A with several winnable games coming up in the next three weeks. The Partenopei are also in the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia and the round of 16 in the Champions League.
The teams met earlier this season in Serie A with Napoli claiming a 4-1 win at Cremonese. Matteo Politano opened the scoring with a penalty on 26 minutes. Cyriel Dessers levelled the score on 47 minutes.
The scoreline flattered Napoli somewhat as their next three goals of the game were scored in the game’s final 14 minutes by Giovanni Simeone, Hirving Lozano, and Mathias Olivera.
Cremonese are currently without a head coach, so assistant Renato Montagnolo will likely take charge of the squad. Montagnolo has no fresh injury issues for the game and will be able to select Cremonese strongest XI.
Spalletti doesn’t have any reported injury problems. However, he could be without Politano after he was removed at halftime against Juventus.
Napoli are led in goals this season by Osimhen, with 13 in 17 appearances. Forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has added nine goals and 10 assists in 20 appearances in all competitions.
Napoli should post a win at full-time in the Coppa Italia against Cremonese and progress to the quarterfinals.
