RB Leipzig are three points behind league leaders Bayern Munich heading into the weekend. The reigning champion’s lead could be extended with RB Leipzig travelling to Wolfsburg for a huge Bundesliga showdown.

Julian Nagelsmann’s team are unbeaten in five straight games with three of those matches ending in draws. Their dropped points have damaged hopes of being at the top of the Bundesliga alongside Bayern Munich.

Wolfsburg dropped to seventh-place last weekend following a surprise 2-2 draw against Union Berlin. The Wolves are chasing the top four and Champions League qualification. Their inconsistent form sees them 11 points off of the top four, however.

RB Leipzig are unbeaten in four straight games versus Wolfsburg. The Bulls won three of those four fixtures including a DFB Cup match earlier this season. They collected a 6-1 win in the DFB Cup which followed on from a 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner is set to be without right-back Willian and midfielders Josuha Guilavogui and Ignacio Camacho. The coach is likely to have left-back Jerome Roussillon back and set to start for the Wolves.

Glasner also has defender Marin Pongracic available after serving a three-match ban. He is likely to start on the bench with centre-backs John Brooks and Robin Knoche starting.

RB Leipzig have a few injury issues and Nagelsmann will be happy to leave players out to get fit for their Champions League last 16 second leg against Tottenham Hotspur. Ethan Ampadu, Ibrahima Konate, Willi Orban, Kevin Kampl are all likely to miss out on the trip to Wolfsburg.

Timo Werner has been in excellent form for RB Leipzig with 21 league goals in 24 games. The striker has five goals in eight games for RB Leipzig in matches against Wolfsburg. He scored twice in RB Leipzig’s 6-1 thrashing of Wolfsburg in the DFB Cup.

RB Leipzig could be guilty of looking forward to next week and their Champions League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. The Red Bulls have one foot in the Champions League last eight and need another good performance against Spurs.

Their focus should be on next week’s Champions League match causing them to drop points once more. RB Leipzig have won just once in their last four away matches in the Bundesliga. Wolfsburg are unbeaten in their last two fixtures in the league.

Saturday’s game should see RB Leipzig drop points once more as they manage a draw with Wolfsburg. The two sides will score under 2.5 goals as the clash ends in a stalemate.
