The second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final showdown between arch-rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid will take place at Camp Nou on Wednesday evening.

Barcelona carry a 1-0 advantage into the second leg after winning at the Bernabeu last month, courtesy of Eder Militao’s first-half own goal.

Although Los Blancos dominated the first meeting – racking up 65% possession and 13 shots – they failed to register a single attempt on target and were made to pay for the wastefulness.

Barcelona head into the second leg on the back of a 4-0 victory over Elche, with Robert Lewandowski bagging a brace in last weekend’s thrashing.

Having won 11 of their last 12 league games – and 16 of their previous 18 – the Catalans find themselves 12 points clear of Real Madrid atop the La Liga table.

When you look at the bigger picture, Barca have lost just six of their 41 matches across all competitions this season, picking up four Copa del Rey victories in the process.

It is also worth noting that Barcelona have won more Copa del Rey titles than any other club, with the most recent of their 31 triumphs coming in 2021.

As for Real Madrid, they have reached 39 Copa del Rey finals over the years, winning 19 while finishing as runners-up on 20 occasions.

Los Blancos last won lifted the trophy all the way back in 2014, meaning Barcelona have clinched five titles since Real Madrid’s last triumph.

Real Madrid hammered Real Valladolid 6-0 on Sunday, with Karim Benzema netting a hat-trick in the space of seven first-half minutes.

That said, Carlo Ancelotti’s men have not been firing on all cylinders of late, recording three wins, two draws and two losses across their past seven outings.

Head-to-head: Barcelona and Real Madrid have both won three of their last nine Copa del Rey meetings between the clubs, in addition to three draws.

Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-1 in La Liga a fortnight ago, meaning the Catalans have won 27 (40%) of the last 67 meetings in all competitions. Meanwhile, Los Blancos have claimed 24 (36%) victories.

Team news: Barcelona are currently without the injured quartet of Frenkie de Jong, Andreas Christensen, Pedri and Ousmane Dembele.

Real Madrid also have a couple of injury absentees at the moment, with Antonio Rudiger and Ferland Mendy expected to miss Wednesday’s clash.

Given the 12-point gulf between these two sides in the La Liga table, the high-flying league leaders look set to book their place in the Copa del Rey final.

Forebet predicts that Barcelona and Real Madrid will play out a low-scoring draw at Camp Nou, sending the hosts into the final with an aggregate victory.
