Nothing to separate Nice and Nantes in Coupe de France final
2624

The final of this season’s Coupe de France will be contested between two Ligue 1 sides as Nice take on Nantes at the Stade de France for the right to qualify for next season’s Europa League competition.

Looking at Nice first and they will be looking to rack up a third win in all competitions in this final having previously registered back to back Ligue 1 wins against Troyes and Bordeaux, while the bigger picture shows Nice have lost just three out of their last 12 matches overall.

During this 12-match period, Nice have collected six wins and have also been involved in three draws too, while this season’s Coupe de France campaign has also been a successful one as Nice have seen off the likes of PSG (on penalties after the scores were level at 0-0), Marseille 4-1 and Versailles 2-0, to reach Saturday’s final.

Nice have won the Coupe de France trophy on three occasions and have ended runners-up once to date in the history of the competition.

Nantes are unbeaten in their last two matches which have seen them pick up four points from a possible six on offer thanks to a 5-3 win against Bordeaux and then grabbing a point in a 2-2 draw away from home at Lens, both results being in the domestic Ligue 1.

Nantes have lost just three out of their last 14 matches in all competitions which also gives them a chance of success in this Coupe de France final, having achieved seven wins during this 14-game period too.

However, it should be noted that six of these seven wins for Nantes were achieved on home soil at their Stade de la Beaujoire.

While results away from home have yielded just the one victory out of their last eight outings on the road, which could pose Nantes a problem in this upcoming cup final.

Three draws in these last eight away games in all competitions does suggest that the draw could be a possibility when they face Nice on Saturday and the visitors may well be happy to settle for this and take their chances in extra time or even in a penalty shoot-out if it comes to that.

Nantes have also lifted the Coupe de France trophy on three occasions as well.

This could be a tightly fought and low-scoring affair and a draw may well be on the cards here at the end of normal time.
