Forebet looks at the French Cup this midweek for a battle between Paris Saint-Germain and Nice where we have grouped together all of the data, analysis, mathematics and the football predictions for a quarter-finals showdown.

PSG’s probability of winning this game remains very high, as they go in search of yet another league and cup double.

The Ligue 1 champions did lose the French Cup last season when Toulouse triumphed, but with a 10-point lead already this season and the usual suspects like Lyon and Marseille afailing to get into the top five this season, it doesn’t look like any side is on PSG’s level this campaign.

Nice, however, were running them very close in a league title race earlier in the campaign by sitting second, just a few points behind them, and with one of Europe’s best defensive records.

Now, however, the data and mathematics reads very differently, despite the positive record at the back standing the test of time.

Nice are now down in sixth and have only two wins in the past eight games and have actually only won on more than one occasion in 2024 because of their French Cup run.

The sole Ligue 1 victory came against Metz in late January, as they've since gone on to lose to Monaco, Lyon, Toulouse and Montpellier just last weekend, while they've also managed to draw with Brest and Clermont Foot in 0-0 encounters.

The French Cup run in 2024 saw them edge past Auxerre on penalties after another 0-0 draw, as Morgan Sanson came up with two goals in a 3-2 win over Ligue 2's Bordeaux, as Evann Guessand also bagged.

Nice then went on to win 4-1 over Montpellier at the Stade de la Mosson.

As for PSG, fans are no doubt not turning away from the idea of a treble just yet, as they are into the quarter-finals of the Champions League and seeing superstar Kylian Mbappe in his best-ever goalscoring form.

42 goals is the France captain's best record for a season, but with 34 on the board already and many more games left to play across three competitions, Mbappe is already proving he is not missing Lionel Messi and Neymar this season.

PSG are top by 10 points now in the league and also have a spot in the last eight of the Champions League. They are also the clear favourties to win the French Cup. Forebet now predicts a win and under 2.5 goals for PSG.
