Rotherham set to continue good form at Crewe in the EFL Trophy
Crewe Alexandra vs Rotherham - 04/01/2022

On Tuesday night, Crewe Alexandra and Rotherham United take a break from their League One campaigns to clash in the third round of the EFL Trophy.
The two teams certainly have different aims and expectations in the third tier of English football this season. Crewe are currently 23rd in the League One table, four points from the safety of 20th place in the table.
However, Rotherham on the other hand are top of the table and look to be in good shape to secure promotion to the Championship for next season.
Both teams could probably do without this midweek game, but it could prove vital for both. A win would lift spirits for Alex, while the Millers will hope to use this game to maintain the positive recent momentum of their league campaign.
Crewe head into the clash on the back of two defeats in their last three outings in League One, including a 4-1 defeat at Burton Albion last time out. However, Alex have won three of their last five games in all competitions, so their recent form has not been completely woeful of late.
Considering their position in the League One table, it is unsurprising that Rotherham’s recent form has been good. In fact, the Yorkshire outfit has won five of their last six matches in the third tier.
When it comes to the EFL Trophy, Crewe have won their previous four games, all without conceding a goal. The last three wins have all come on home soil.
Rotherham have won three of their last four matches in 90 minutes in this competition. However, they needed penalty kicks to see off Port Vale in the last round.
Forebet predicts that Rotherham will record a comfortable victory in a high-scoring encounter.
