This season seems one of uncertainty in the English Premier League. At the time of writing, two of the teams in the top four having played 14 matches are Everton and Leicester City.
Three of the eight teams that line-up for the Quarter-Finals of the League Cup this season have never won the competition before. Between them, Stoke, Tottenham, Man Utd, Arsenal and Man City have won the League Cup on 19 occasions, but Everton, Brentford and Newcastle have never lifted this trophy before.
On Thursday night, Sheffield United suffered a 3-2 home defeat against Manchester United at Bramall Lane. The way that the Blades have performed of late and considering their opposition the defeat may not have come as a massive shock.
On Tuesday night, Manchester City hosted West Brom at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League. The Citizens were heavy favourites to win.

On Sunday afternoon Everton recorded a 3-2 win at struggling Fulham. The result was a close one in the end after Fulham put in an admirable second-half display.
Brentford are the masters of Moneyball although their current position of 11th in the EFL Championship doesn’t necessarily show it. The Bees narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season, losing to rivals Fulham in the playoff final.
