Like most top clubs, Liverpool invariably have a plethora of players out on loan. From youngsters looking for regular game time to older players aiming to reignite their career, the Reds currently have 12 loanees at clubs around the world.

Let’s take a look at five notable Liverpool loanees and see how they are faring this season.

• Harvey Elliott – Blackburn Rovers

Having already made nine first-team appearances for Liverpool, Harvey Elliot would have been hoping to break into Jurgen Klopp’s side this season. Instead, the 17-year-old was loaned out to Blackburn Rovers – and he’s lit up the second tier.

Elliot has racked up four goals and seven assists in 19 Championship outings this term, featuring in all but one of Blackburn’s league games. His efforts have kept the club within touching distance of the play-offs.

• Taiwo Awoniyi – Union Berlin

Union Berlin have taken the Bundesliga by storm this season. After 16 games, the capital club find themselves fifth in the German top-flight, with only Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, and Bayern Munich ahead of them.

Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi has contributed five goals and two assists for Union, with all seven of his goal contributions coming in a seven-game streak. Reds goalkeeper Loris Karius is also on loan in Berlin, although he is only being used as backup.

• Harry Wilson – Cardiff City

Harry Wilson has bagged three goals and five assists in 17 Championship games since joining Cardiff City on loan. Following spells at Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County and Bournemouth, the Welshman has returned to his homeland to get regular game time.

At 23, Wilson has only featured for Liverpool twice over the years. It goes without saying that he is running out of time to prove himself to Klopp. A permanent move at the end of the season could be on the cards.

• Marko Grujic – FC Porto

Having enjoyed a successful two-season loan stint with Hertha Berlin, many believed that Marko Grujic would challenge for place in Klopp’s squad this term. However, the Serbian was sent to Portugal to team up with Porto.

Grujic actually featured in two EFL Cup ties for Liverpool earlier in the campaign, scoring in a 7-2 thrashing of Lincoln City. But since joining Porto, the midfielder has made eight Liga NOS and four Champions League appearances.

• Sheyi Ojo – Cardiff City

Sheyi Ojo is currently on loan at his sixth different club, following previous spells with Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Reims and Rangers. The winger is now at Cardiff for the 2020/21 campaign, alongside Wilson.

The 23-year-old has featured in every Championship game for the Bluebirds, making 19 starts and four substitute appearances. With three goals and five assists to his name, Ojo has been one of Cardiff’s standout performers this season.
