January Transfer Window – Who Could be on the Move?

January Transfer Window – Who Could be on the Move?
3809

We have entered the January transfer window and with no winter break in the Premier League this season, plus a demanding fixture schedule and injuries, this could prove to be one of the most important January transfer windows in history.

There is still plenty to play for in terms of the Premier League title, the European qualification places, and relegation.

In fact, we have rarely seen a season like this campaign and some good moves in the January transfer window could be the difference between success and failure.

In terms of the potential outgoings from the Premier League, Paul Pogba’s agent said in December the player is “unhappy” at the club and “has to change teams” in the next transfer window. Since that statement, Pogba has been heavily involved in the Manchester United team and produced some good performances.

The French international has been strongly linked with a move back to Juventus but with Manchester United challenging on four fronts, it is unlikely he is going to be allowed to leave in January.

One attacking midfielder who could be leaving the Premier League is Mesut Ozil. The German has been frozen out at Arsenal, failing to make the squad for both the domestic and European campaign this season. Ozil has been linked with a host of teams including Fenerbahce, DC United, LA Galaxy, and Inter Miami.

The future of Dele Alli at Tottenham Hotspur has become increasingly uncertain this season and if the Englishman is to have any hope of being involved at the European Championship, he will need to move in January. With former Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino now in charge at PSG, Alli could make the move to Ligue 1 but there may be some interest from Everton in the Premier League.

Despite being a cult hero at Anfield, it appears as though time is fast running out for Divock Origi. The arrival of Diogo Jota has pushed the Belgian striker down the pecking order at Liverpool and he could be about to leave in January.

It is no secret Wolverhampton Wanderers will be hoping to add a striker to their squad and Origi could make a move to Molineux. Newcastle United and Leeds United are also monitoring the situation.

Leeds United will also be hoping to add a defender to their ranks in January. Cover is required for long-term absentee Robin Koch and a loan move for Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori could be the answer.

Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma has been impressive in the Premier League this season. Both Liverpool and Manchester United have both been linked with a move for the Mali international and with the uncertainty surrounding Georginio Wijnaldum’s contract, the former could be about to make a bid.

Looking outside the Premier League and Bayern Munich’s David Alaba will be free to negotiate with teams in January as his contract is about to run out in Germany.

The 28 year old would be a fantastic signing for any team and Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and PSG are all thought to be interested in the Austrian international.

Christian Eriksen could return to the Premier League because his move to Inter Milan has not worked out, with Arsenal is a potential destination for the Dane.

Isco could also be about to arrive in the Premier League from Real Madrid as the Spanish international no longer seems to be considered a key player at the Santiago Bernabéu. Sevilla, Juventus, Arsenal, and Everton are among the teams thought to be monitoring the situation.
