Who Will Win the 2022-23 Bundesliga Golden Boot?
729

With two matches remaining, the top six scorers in the Bundesliga are separated by just three goals. So, who will clinch the coveted crown this season?

Robert Lewandowski scooped the prize in five successive seasons before leaving Bayern Munich for Barcelona last year. With Lewandowski out of the picture, a new marksman is set to reign supreme.

1. Niclas Fullkrug, Werder Bremen (16)

Despite having missed the past five games due to injury, Werder Bremen’s Niclas Fullkrug remains at the summit of the Bundesliga Golden Boot leaderboard.

The 30-year-old has netted 16 goals in 26 appearances this term, meaning he averages 0.62 goals per game. It remains to be seen whether he will return from injury before the season ends.

2. Randal Kolo Muani, Eintracht Frankfurt (14)

It’s safe to say that Randal Kolo Muani has enjoyed a phenomenal debut season with Eintracht Frankfurt, racking up 22 goals and 15 assists across all competitions.

Having bagged 14 goals and 12 assists in 30 Bundesliga outings, the Frenchman could overtake Fullkrug if he carries his recent form into the last two games.

3. Vincenzo Grifo, SC Freiburg (14)

SC Freiburg’s Vincenzo Grifo notched two braces and a hat-trick in the space of eight matches earlier this season. However, the Italian has managed to score just twice in his last 10 appearances.

That said, with Freiburg pushing for Champions League football, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Grifo added to his tally over the next couple of weekends.

4. Serge Gnabry, Bayern Munich (13)

Serge Gnabry enhance his Golden Boot prospects by netting a double in Bayern Munich’s 6-0 thrashing of Schalke last weekend, meaning he has scored four goals across the past three matches.

Jamal Musiala (11), Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (10) and Leroy Sane (8) have all chipped in with goals throughout the campaign, but Gnabry is Bayern’s top scorer this term.

5. Marcus Thuram, Borussia Monchengladbach (13)

Marcus Thuram made a flying start to the season, bagging 10 goals across the opening 15 matches. Since then, however, the Borussia Monchengladbach forward has struggled for consistency.

Having returned to the bench last weekend following an injury layoff, Thuram still has enough time to chase down Fullkrug in the race for the Golden Boot.

6. Christipher Nkunku, RB Leipzig (13)

Despite having missed a large portion of the season due to injury, Christopher Nkunku remains in the hunt for the Golden Boot, although he has scored just once since November.

With 13 goals in 23 appearances, the RB Leipzig forward boasts an impressive goals-per-game average of 0.57. Can he rediscover his early-season form before the end of the campaign?
