Union Berlin’s form has dipped in recent weeks. The Irons took just eight points from the last 18 on offer in the Bundesliga. They were outscored 9-7 by opponents over the course of the six matches.
Bayer Leverkusen defensive duo, Sven and Lars Bender, will retire from football at the end of the season. Sven will play his last game at the BayArena while Lars will miss the game due to a knee injury. Leon Bailey will miss the game due to a broken toe suffered last weekend.
Union Berlin are fighting for Europa League qualification and could catch Bayer Leverkusen with a victory. If the Irons win out and Bayer Leverkusen lose their remain games, the Irons may make Europe for just the second time.
Teuchert, who scored in the reverse fixture, is out of the game with a knee injury. Union Berlin players Awoniyi and Becker are both doubts due to their injuries.
Bayer Leverkusen teen sensation Florian Wirtz is one to watch this weekend. He has contributed four goals and five assists in the Bundesliga. Wirtz should help Bayer Leverkusen win on Saturday to achieved Europa League qualification.
