Levante seek to end three-match La Liga losing streak against Celta Vigo
3038

Levante are on a three-match La Liga losing streak ahead of their fixtyre on Friday night at the Estadio de Balaidos against Celta Vigo. The Frogs are 12th in the league and nine points above the relegation zone.

Friday night’s opponent, Celta Vigo, sit in ninth place in the La Liga table. The Sky Blues are three points better off in the standings than Levante and nine points off of sixth-place Real Betis.

Celta de Vigo have a shot at making the Europa League due to their league position but need to continue picking up points. They go into the match following a 2-1 win over Osasuna last weekend.

The Sky Blues took seven points from the last 18 available to them in La Liga. They scored 10 goals while conceding 11 times. Levante, on the other hand, took a mere three points from the last 18 on offer in La Liga.

Goals have dried up for the Frogs and only two were scored during that timeframe. Levante conceded 11 times in their last six games. Celta Vigo will aim to take advantage of Levante’s poor defensive record.

While Levante have been poor in defence over the last month and a half, Celta Vigo have actually conceded the second-most goals in the league (51). Levante have allowed 46.

The reverse fixture between the clubs finished 1-1 in Valencia. Levante’s Rogers opened the scoring just after halftime with a penalty. Celta Vigo struck back through Sergio Carreira just minutes later.

The last six La Liga games between Celta Vigo and Levante all ended with both teams scoring goals. Five of those six fixtures ended with over 2.5 goals tallied. Those trends should continue this weekend at the Estadio de Balaidos.

Eduardo Coudet has a few names on the Celta Vigo injury list. Defender Hugo Mallo is a doubt with a hamstring injury. Emre Mor is also unlikely to play following a hernia.

There is hope that the duo of Sergio Alvarez and Ruben Blanco will be fit to play following injury.

Levante coach Paco Lopez could have the trio of Nemanja Radoja, Jorge Miramon, and Nikola Vukcevic back in the team following their injury issues. Dani Cardenas and Jose Campana are both doubts due to their injuries.

The Frogs are in a rut, losers of three straight La Liga matches. They are likely to lose once more this weekend as Celta Vigo continue their solid midtable play.

Expect both teams to score once more and over 2.5 goals.
