Bayern Munich set to continue momentum against Stuttgart

A midweek 2-1 home win over Lazio in the Champions League not only resulted in Bayern  Munich progressing through to the next round of the elite European competition, but also extended their winning streak to five wins on the trot in all competitions.

Bayern recorded a 6-2 aggregate win over the Italian Serie A side, and together with domestic Bundesliga wins over Koln 5-1, Borussia Dortmund 4-2 and a 3-1 win against Werder Bremen, the goals have also flowed for the German champions.

It comes as no surprise therefore, that Bayern Munich sit top of the Bundesliga with a four-point lead over 2nd placed RB Leipzig prior to this weekend’s action and Bayern could make it a seven-point buffer over their title rivals with a win against visitors, Stuttgart, at their Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Form and results at home in the domestic top flight have been exemplary too as Bayern Munich still remain unbeaten at home in this campaign, winning nine and drawing three.

While 11 of their 12 home matches to date this term have also resulted in over 2.5 goals scored.

Stuttgart moved up into 8th place on the Bundesliga ladder thanks to a solid 2-0 home win over Hoffenheim on the weekend which also extended their unbeaten run to five matches in the domestic top flight.

Recent victories against Koln and Schalke have given the visitors a welcome boost following an earlier lean period in the Bundesliga which saw Stuttgart pick up just two wins out of the preceding 10 matches.

The visitors still only trail 6th placed Bayer Leverkusen by a four-point margin but this weekend looks set to be a write-off for Stuttgart who face the might of Bayern in their own backyard with the hosts still yet to confirm another domestic top flight title.

In addition, four defeats out of their last seven matches on their travels with losses incurred at Wolfsburg, Arminia Bielefeld, Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen do not bode well for Stuttgart this Saturday.

Especially as they’ve lost 18 out of the last 19 meetings against their hosts.

It’s also worth noting that six of the previous seven encounters with Bayern Munich have also produced three goals or more and with Bayern being the stronger outfit, a home win and over 2.5 goals looks to be on the cards here.
