Borussia Monchengladbach will be aiming to end a six-game winless streak in the Bundesliga when they visit the WWK Arena to face Augsburg on Friday night.
A wretched run has been Gladbach slip to tenth in the Bundesliga table – seven points clear of thirteenth-place Augsburg.
It is no secret that Augsburg have struggled at home recently, winning just one of their last ten matches at WWK Arena in all competitions.
Augsburg have also failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their previous 12 games in all competition at their home ground.
Having only managed to win seven of their 24 Bundesliga matches this term, Augsburg find themselves just seven points clear of the bottom three.
Following six defeats in seven games, things were looking up for Augsburg when they drew with Bayer Leverkusen and draw with Mainz last month.
However, Augsburg swiftly returned to losing ways last time out, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Hertha Berlin last weekend.
Meanwhile, Borussia Monchengladbach have failed to win any of their last six Bundesliga games, recording four losses and two draws in that time.
In fact, defeats to Mainz, RB Leipzig and Leverkusen mean that Gladbach head into Friday’s game on the back of three consecutive losses.
Worse still, a German Cup defeat to Borussia Dortmund and a Champions League defeat to Manchester City mean that Monchengladbach have lost each of their last five matches in all competitions.
Having picked up just one win in their last nine outings, it goes without saying the Gladbach are likely to miss out on European qualification this term.
But regardless of their current form, it is worth remembering that Gladbach’s recent record against Augsburg is very impressive.
Head-to-head: Gladbach haven’t lost any of their last eight meetings with Augsburg, picking up four wins and four draws during that period.
Augsburg’s last victory over Gladbach came all the way back in 2016, while Gladbach have scored in every game between the teams since then.
Team news: Augsburg are currently without Alfred Finnbogason, Iago, Fredrik Jense, Jan Moravek and Tim Civeja due to injury.
Gladbach also have three notable absentees, with Torben Musel, Mamadou Doucoure and Christoph Kramer on the sidelines.
Gladbach’s recent record against Augsburg is strong, but their current form suggests that they won’t be able to claim all three points this time around.
Forebet predicts that Gladbach will extend their unbeaten run against Augsburg on Friday, with a low-scoring draw looking likely.
