Bayern Munich too strong for Dortmund
11599

Despite suffering a rare 2-1 defeat away from home at Eintracht Frankfurt recently, the current Bundesliga leaders, Bayern Munich, showed why they’ve held a stronghold on the domestic front for some time as the German champions responded with a 5-1 thrashing of poor Koln last time out.

Bayern Munich hold home advantage once again for Saturday’s clash against Borussia Dortmund as the hosts look to not only capture back-to-back wins but also extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga over title rivals, RB Leipzig.

Six wins out of their last eight matches have helped maintain Bayern’s grip on top spot although the hosts cannot afford another slip-up here as 2nd placed Leipzig will be eager to take advantage of any mistakes, but Bayern still remain unbeaten at their Allianz Stadium this season and look set for further success here.

8 wins and 3 draws have preserved Bayern Munich’s unbeaten tag at home this season with their Allianz Stadium being a veritable fortress, and although they’ll be without midfielders Costa and Tolisso, striker Lewandowski (28 goals) has been in lethal form up front.

Borussia Dortmund bring back-to-back wins in the Bundesliga into Saturday’s clash away at Bayern Munich with victories against Schalke and Arminia Bielefeld but this may count for very little as they face the league leaders in their own backyard.

Recent results overall have been inconsistent though for Dortmund as the visitors have collected just three wins out of their last eight matches, two of which have been achieved on home turf at their Signal-Iduna-Park.

On the road, Dortmund have lost three out of their last four matches on their travels having suffered defeats at Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Moenchengladbach and Freiburg and although they recorded a resounding 4-0 win at Schalke last time on their travels, this was against the bottom club in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund will be without defender Schmelzer and influential midfielder, Witsel, for this trip to Bayern Munich and further problems may arise in this Saturday’s encounter for the visitors.

This may well be the case as Bayern Munich have won the previous four meetings on the trot against Borussia Dortmund and look favourites again for the three points this Saturday too as the hosts look to hold onto top spot.
