Premier League team Leicester City head to London to play Brentford on Sunday in the FA Cup fourth round. The Foxes are in a title fight in the top flight but will turn their attention toward progression to the next round on Sunday.
Brentford will be no pushovers. The Championship club are third in the division, just two points back of the automatic promotion places. The Bees will fancy their chances of upsetting Leicester City and continuing in the cup.
Thomas Frank’s team reached the semifinals of the Carabao Cup where they lost to Tottenham Hotspur 2-0. Brentford are unbeaten in 17 of their last 18 matches in all competitions. The Bees defeated Middlesbrough in the FA Cup third round 2-1 to set up the tie against Leicester City.
Leicester City are on a seven-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. The Foxes progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup by defeating Stoke City 4-0.
After going into the break up 1-0 through James Justin. They exploded for three goals in the second half thanks to Marc Albrighton, Ayoze Perez, and Harvey Barnes.
Leicester City and Brentford met in the 2019-20 FA Cup tournament in the fourth round. The Foxes claimed the win thanks to a fourth-minute goal courtesy of Kelechi Iheanacho.
Brendan Rodgers has just two players suffering from injury at the King Power Stadium. The manager will be without midfielder Dennis Praet. He will be out until April. Nampalys Mendy is a doubt for the game due to a back/neck injury.
Frank has two players on his Brentford injury list heading into the weekend. Pontus Jansson is ruled out with an ankle injury and won’t be back until February. Shandon Baptiste is a doubt due to a knee issue.
Brentford forward Ivan Toney has scored 16 goals this season in the Championship. He is playing well and showing the strength of Brentford’s scouting department. They signed the former Newcastle United player from Peterborough last offseason.
Unlike Frank, Rodgers has the ability to play a rotated side. The manager is likely to play his strongest squad possible, however. Both teams will fancy their chances of winning on Sunday and continuing their excellent forms overall.
Leicester City’s quality should rise to the forefront in the end. The Foxes are playing well in the league and should edge out the Bees for progression to the next round. The fixture could look very similar to the one from last season’s FA Cup fifth round when these teams met.
