On Saturday evening Elche and Real Sociedad go head-to-head at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero, as the home side look to make a winning return to La Liga.
Elche have yet to kick-off their La Liga campaign after coming up through the Segunda play-offs last season. The home side has not featured in the Spanish top-flight since season 2014/15 when they failed to win any of their last three games in La Liga.
They had a mixed home record towards the end of their last spell in the Spanish top-flight. In fact, they have won four and lost four of their previous eight matches on home soil in La Liga.
One of Elche’s biggest weakness in their previous spell in La Liga on home soil was keeping out opponents, as they have not kept a clean sheet in their last 19 home matches.
Real Sociedad have drawn their first two La Liga games of the season. La Real followed up a disappointing opening gameweek draw at Real Valladolid with a more creditable goalless draw against Real Madrid last time out.
The team from San Sebastian are now five games unbeaten in La Liga, although their last four league games have finished all-square. Imanol Alguacil’s have found victories hard to come by in the Spanish top-flight, winning just two of their last 13 league outings.
Even with the lack of victories the visitors still qualified for the Europa League for this season.
La Real are unbeaten in four away games in the Spanish top-flight but have won just once in their last six league matches on their travels. Both teams have scored in Real Sociedad’s last five league outings, although three of their last four away games have produced under 2.5 goals.
Forebet predicts that this clash will produce a low-scoring draw to continue Real Sociedad’s recent run of draws.
