Leipzig and Dortmund to produce goals in tasty clash

Without doubt, one of the most mouthwatering clashes across European football this weekend pits the wits of Saturday’s hosts, 3rd placed RB Leipzig and 2nd placed Borussia Dortmund, with a valuable three points on offer for both clubs in their quest to nail down a top four finish in the Bundesliga.
RB Leipzig have once again missed out on claiming the Bundesliga title as hey’ve been unable to keep up with the blistering pace set by the perennial champions, Bayern Munich, but nevertheless, Leipzig have put together a solid sequence of results in the German top flight.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last 13 matches overall in the German top flight but this run only includes five wins which were collected against Werder Bremen, Schalke, Mainz, Cologne and Hoffenheim, while a flurry of draws have put paid to any lingering hopes of a league title.
In fact, Leipzig have drawn no fewer than eight of these last 13 matches with five of these being on the trot at home, but goals have featured on a regular basis with 11 of their 16 home matches producing three goals or more.
Onto Borussia Dortmund, and the 2nd placed side also look like they’ll have to make do with a possible runners-up spot in the Bundesliga as they trail the league leaders, Bayern Munich, by a significant 10-point margin.
Dortmund will make their way to Leipzig though on the back of a surprising 2-0 midweek defeat at home by lowly Mainz, so they’ll be desperate to assert their authority once more as they prepare for this clash against the 3rd placed Leipzig.
Nevertheless, Borussia Dortmund’s nine wins from their last 11 matches is nothing to be sneezed at and they’ve also won their last five away matches on the trot with victories achieved at Werder Bremen, ‘Gladbach, Wolfsburg, Paderborn and Fortuna Dusseldorf, scoring 13 goals for and conceding just two in reply.
Dortmund are also no strangers to goals being scored on their travels as 12 of their 16 matches on the road have also resulted in over 2.5 goals being scored, while three of the previous five meetings between these two sides have also produced three goals or more.
With second place still up for grabs, Leipzig and Dortmund could therefore produce another goal-laden encounter here.
