This week we have two DFB Pokal semi-finals to look forward to in Germany. The second of which takes place on Wednesday the 10th of May as Bayern Munich meet Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena. in terms of the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich are currently top while Eintracht Frankfurt are down in 11th place, some 35 points behind.

Bayern Munich come into this match having come from a goal behind to defeat Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 away from home on the weekend. That result means Bayern Munich have won each of their last 11 Games in all competitions and are undefeated in their last 16 matches.

In terms of the DFB Pokal this season, Bayern Munich started their campaign with an away match at Energie Cottbus in August. They won the game 3-1 and went on to record a 2-1 victory at Bochum in the next round. Bayern Munich were then drawn at home against Hoffenheim and came out on top 4-3 in an exciting game before meeting Schalke away from home in the quarter-final.

In what was a tight encounter, Bayern Munich scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute to seal their place in the semi-final. As the defending champions, Bayern Munich have won each of their last 10 DFB Pokal matches and you must go back to the 2017/18 final to find the last time they lost a game in the competition and that was against Eintracht Frankfurt.

This is a massive game in terms of Eintracht Frankfurt’s season. Having defeated Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen away from home in the Bundesliga recently, Eintracht Frankfurt should be safe from relegation. However, they did suffer a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home against Mainz in the Bundesliga on the weekend.

Trends show Eintracht Frankfurt have won only 2 of their last 8 games in all competitions. Their previous victory came at home in the DFB Pokal quarter-final against Werder Bremen, a match they won 2-0. In the DFB Pokal this season, Eintracht Frankfurt have defeated Waldhof Mannheim and St. Pauli away plus RB Leipzig at home in addition to the win against Werder Bremen.

Both teams have scored in 3 of their 4 DFB Pokal games this season and there were over 2.5 goals in each of those 3 matches.

Looking ahead to the team news and Bayern Munich could be without several players including Corentin Tolisso, Lars Lukas Mai, Mickaël Cuisance, Niklas Süle and Philippe Coutinho. Both Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller should start the game as they are suspended on the weekend.

Eintracht Frankfurt are without injured midfielder Gelson Fernandes plus have doubts over the fitness of Goncalo Paciencia. Sebastian Rode is suspended for the Bundesliga on the weekend but will be available to face his former team in this match.

Given the current form of Bayern Munich, it is difficult to make a case for any team to beat them right now, including Eintracht Frankfurt. Bayern Munich are scoring goals for fun and although Eintracht Frankfurt may find the back of the net themselves, the hosts could score 3 or more goals on their way to victory.
