On Tuesday, Borussia Monchengladbach and VfL Wolfsburg go head-to-head at Borussia-Park in the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal.

Gladbach claimed a 2-1 victory over Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday, while Wolfsburg suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to VfL Bochum.

Still, the two sides are locked on 16 points in the Bundesliga table, so there is very little to separate them ahead of Tuesday’s showdown.

Borussia MG kicked off their DFB-Pokal campaign with a 7-0 thrashing of lower-league side Bersenbruck, racking up 60% possession and 23 shots in the rout.

In the second round, Gladbach secured a 3-1 victory over fellow Bundesliga club Heidenheim, with Theoson Siebatcheu bagging a brace inside the opening nine minutes.

Thanks to that victory, Borussia MG have won each of their last four home games across all competitions, scoring 11 goals while conceding just three.

That said, Gladbach have been wildly inconsistent this season, recording six wins, four draws and four defeats across all competitions.

Just like the hosts, Wolfsburg notched a high-scoring victory in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, crushing Makkabi 6-0 back in August.

The Wolves then defeated RB Leipzig 1-0 to book their place in the last 16, despite seeing just 34% of the ball while conceding 11 shots.

It is worth noting, however, that Wolfsburg have managed to win just two of their previous eight matches, suffering five defeats in that time.

Believe it or not, the Wolves have only drawn one of their 15 matches this season, recording seven wins and seven losses to highlight their own inconsistencies.

Head-to-head: When the two sides met in the Bundesliga last month, Borussia MG cruised to a dominant 4-0 victory over Wolfsburg.

As a result, the Wolves have failed to win any of their previous eight meetings with Gladbach, recording four draws and four losses in the process.

Team news: The hosts have numerous injury absentees right now, including Tomas Cvancara, Ko Itakura, Jonas Omlin, Jordan Siebatcheu, Julian Weigl and Hannes Wolf.

As for Wolfsburg, they currently have Maximilian Arnold, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Felix Lange, Lukas Nmecha, Amin Sarr and Patrick Wimmer on the sidelines.

Given Wolfsburg’s poor recent record in this fixture, Borussia MG are expected to punch their ticket to the quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Accordingly, Forebet predicts that Borussia Monchengladbach will score over 1.5 goals on their way to eliminating Wolfsburg.
