The FA Cup third-round replays take place this week. On Tuesday, Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome Premier League rivals Brentford to Molineux.

Despite Joao Gomes’ ninth-minute red card, Wolves managed to hold on for a 1-1 draw in the first leg, with Tommy Doyle’s second-half equaliser cancelling out Neal Maupay’s opener.

The Bees racked up 74% possession and 14 shots in the previous meeting, while Gary O’Neil’s men registered a solitary attempt on target. Who will reach the fourth round this time around?

Thanks to the draw at the Gtech Community Stadium, Wolverhampton carry a four-game unbeaten streak into Tuesday’s showdown.

Funnily enough, Wolves thrashed Brentford 4-1 in the Premier League last month, adding that win to victories over Chelsea and Everton.

Better still, O’Neil’s side have lost just one of their previous seven matches across all competitions, picking up four wins and two draws in the process.

It is also worth noting that Wolves have avoided defeat in each of their last eight encounters at Molineux, winning four of the last five for good measure.

By contrast, Brentford are currently enduring a six-game winless run, having lost each of their previous five Premier League clashes.

Thomas Frank’s men have also suffered seven defeats in their last eight league matches, conceding 17 goals during that period.

As a result, the Bees have dropped to 16th in the Premier League table – three points outside the relegation zone and nine points shy of Wolves.

Having managed to win just one of their last eight away games – losing each of their previous four – Brentford will be desperate to transform their fortunes on the road.

Head-to-head: Thanks to the 1-1 draw and the 4-1 thrashing, Wolves are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Brentford across all competitions.

On top of that, Wolverhampton have lost only one of their previous 10 matches against the Bees, picking up six wins and three draws along the way.

Team news: Wolves will be without the suspended Joao Gomes on Tuesday, while Mario Lemia, Craig Dawson and Hugo Bueno are doubts. Plus, Hwang Hee-chan, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Boubacar Traore are on international duty.

Brentford are missing Yoane Wissa, Frank Onyeka and Saman Ghoddos due to AFCON. Rico Henry, Bryan Mbeumo, Aaron Hickey, Kevin Schade and Christian Norgaard remain sidelined through injury.

When you couple Wolves’ strong recent record in this fixture with Brentford’s poor form of late, all the signs point towards a home win.

Forebet predicts that Wolves will register a low-scoring victory over Brentford to book their place in the next round, keeping a clean sheet in the process.
