Bilbao Could Jump Into the European Spots With a Win Over Mallorca

Mallorca are eyeing up the top half of the table this weekend when they meet with Athletic Club at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix with the home side sitting in 12th ahead of this game having had a topsy-turvy April.

Matija Nastasic scored against Atletico Madrid last time out with the Serbian's goal meaning barely anything in the end of the 3-1 defeat.

On the other hand, Mallorca did defeat Getafe by the same scoreline last weekend, as Lee Kang-in netted a goal in the second half and another in the 96th minute of the game. Antonio Jose Raillo Arenas also scored in the second half of a comeback home win.

Mallorca have also beaten Celta Vigo this past month after a first half goal from Amath Ndiaye Diedhiou in a 1-0 win, while they also drew in a 3-3 game with Real Valladolid that saw Manu Morlanes score in the second half, just as Vedat Muriqi netted twice, including a 94th-minute penalty equaliser.

The club are now sitting behind 10th-placed Girona by one point and they also come into this game with just a one-point gap on Sevilla in 11th.

What's more, the sixth spot in La Liga is only nine points away with 21 points still left on the board, meaning a spot in Europe is still not over for Mallorca, although it remains incredibly unlikely.

The club have also been involved in the fewest goals this season, despite having an incredibly high-scoring April that witnessed them score eight of their own and let in eight too.

The 12th-placed side have conceded just 34 times in the league this season and scored 30 goals of their own - only Cadiz, Getafe, Valladolid and Elche in the relegation scrap have scored fewer.

As for Bilbao, they were beaten 1-0 at home by Sevilla in midweek after Lucas Ocampos scored a penalty in the dying embers of the game.

It kept the club in seventh and they lost their chance to move into sixth above Real Bettis and to put pressure on Villarreal in fifth.

The gap remains three points on Betis in sixth and with the club still having the fourth-best defensive record in the league after those in the top four with just 31 goals conceded.

Forebet predicts a win for Bilbao and for the game to see over 2.5 goals, as they aim for their 14th win of the season.
