Fulham and Sunderland will play for the first time since 2018 in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday. The Cottagers are on a poor run of form in the Premier League and manager Marco Silva will hope the team can right the ship in the FA Cup fourth round versus Sunderland.

Sunderland are ninth in the Championship standings heading into the match against the Premier League’s Fulham. The Black Cats are one point off the top six and are in the running for a second promotion in as many years.

While Fulham are out of form going into the FA Cup fourth round, Sunderland are in better form. The Black Cats are unbeaten in six of their last seven games in all competitions going into the match.

Sunderland are coming off a 2-0 win against in-form Middlesbrough at the weekend in the Championship. Manager Tony Mowbray has the team playing well and things could get even better with a win over Fulham.

Fulham are on a two-game losing streak heading into the match. The Cottagers failed to score across their last 180 minutes of Premier League football, losing to Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Silva’s team reached the fourth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 2-0 away win against Hull City in the third round. Their win against Fulham came during a brilliant five-game winning streak for the Cottagers.

Sunderland went to Shrewsbury Town and won 2-1 in the FA Cup third round. The Black Cats are playing well, but it can be asked whether Mowbray will be willing to go all-out in the FA Cup with Sunderland so close to the top six in the Championship.

Silva has just one player in the treatment room at Craven Cottage. Fulham’s Neeskans Kebano is ruled out of action due to a calf injury. Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic did not play in the team’s 2-0 win over Hull City in round three.

Mitrovic has not scored in his last two Premier League appearances. He should start against Sunderland at Craven Cottage.

Mowbray will be without key player Alex Pritchard due to a calf injury. Midfielders Dennis Cirkin and Elliot Embleton are both ruled out of the game through their respective injuries. Mowbray will have a limited selection of midfielders to pick from.

Fulham may be on a two-game losing streak, but Sunderland have the top six in the Championship in sight. The Cottagers should edge Sunderland at Craven Cottage 1-0, with Mitrovic (if he starts) potentially getting on the scoresheet.
