The FA Cup Third Round kicks off this weekend, with five all-Premier League clashes to look forward to. On Saturday, Liverpool welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield.

Liverpool are currently chasing a Champions League place in the Premier League, while Wolves are looking to escape the relegation zone.

Although the two sides are separated by 14 points in the Premier League table, Saturday’s clash is destined to be feisty battle between two exciting teams.

Liverpool head into the game on the back of a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Brentford. Despite racking up 73% possession and 16 shots, the Reds were stung by the Bees.

Jurgen Klopp’s men enjoyed a four-game winning streak before that, picking up back-to-back victories either side of the World Cup break.

It is also worth noting that Liverpool have won six of their previous nine Premier League outings, seeing off Manchester City, West Ham, Tottenham, Southampton, Aston Villa and Leicester.

Let’s not forget that Klopp’s side lifted the FA Cup last season after beating Chelsea on penalties in the final. Can the Reds claim a ninth FA Cup triumph this year?

As for Wolves, they come into this game on the back of a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa – with Danny Ings cancelling out Daniel Podence’s early goal.

The Wanderers have only managed to win one of their previous eight Premier League outings and find themselves second from bottom in the table as a result.

When you look at the bigger picture, they have won just three of their 18 league matches this season – recording five draws and ten losses in the process.

Wolves have won four FA Cups over the years, although their last triumph came all the way back in 1960. Needless to say, the club will be eager to clinch the trophy once again.

Head-to-head: Liverpool have won each of their last seven meetings with Wolves, conceding just two goals while keeping five clean sheets.

Funnily enough, Wolves’ last two wins over Liverpool came in the FA Cup – with the Wanderers beating the Reds 2-1 in 2017 and 2019.

Team news: Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota remain long-term injury absentees for Liverpool. Cody Gakpo could make his debut for the club on Saturday following his move from PSV.

On the flip side, Wolves look set to be without the injured trio of Pedro Neto, Sasa Kalajdzic and Chiquinho for the trip to Anfield.

Although both these sides are struggling for consistency at the moment, Liverpool should have enough firepower to get the better of Wolves.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool will claim a low-scoring victory on Saturday, while a clean sheet is also on the cards for the hosts.
