Sunday afternoon brings us further action from the German top flight as mid-table hosts, Eintracht Frankfurt play host to high-flying 5th placed visitors, Freiburg, when the two teams face off at the Deutsche Bank Park.
Although Eintracht Frankfurt currently occupy a mid-table position in the Bundesliga, the hosts are still only five points adrift of 6th placed Hoffenheim ahead of this weekend’s fixtures in the German top flight.
The home side have also put together a four-match unbeaten run as well.
Recent wins against Hertha Berlin and Bochum have been followed up with points shared in draws with RB Leipzig and Greuther Furth, both of which ended in 0-0 stalemates but nevertheless, have helped keep Frankfurt in the frame for a possible top six finish.
However, Eintracht Frankfurt’s results at home in recent weeks have been pretty disappointing as the hosts have managed to win just once in their last six games at the Deutsche Bank Park, losing four in the process as well.
Freiburg still remain in 5th place in the Bundesliga standings despite being handed a heavy 4-1 defeat at home to runaway league leaders, Bayern Munich, but the visitors had previously put together a solid run of results in the domestic top flight just before the international break.
The visitors had previously put together a six-match unbeaten run in the Bundesliga which consisted of three wins and three draws.
The victories came in the form of wins against Augsburg, Hertha Berlin and Wolfsburg, while they also picked up useful points in draws with Mainz, RB Leipzig and Greuther Furth too.
Freiburg have also made themselves reasonably tough to beat on their travels this season, losing just four of their 14 away games to date this term, with three of these four losses being incurred away at clubs sitting in the top eight of the Bundesliga ladder.
Having been involved in three stalemates within their last six outings on the road, Freiburg may also fail to grab all three points in this Sunday’s trip as well.
The draw therefore cannot be ruled out for this upcoming encounter as two of the previous four meetings have ended in 2-2 and 3-3 draws respectively and a point apiece in this Sunday’s game may also be on the cards as well.
