Koln to take the spoils against Stuttgart
3320

Sunday afternoon brings us action from the German Bundesliga and features the upcoming clash between mid-table 10th placed Koln and 15th placed Stuttgart when the two teams lock horns at the RheinEnergieStadion.

Koln head into this Sunday’s encounter fresh from their smash-and-grab raid away from home at Wolfsburg which saw them come from a 2-1 deficit to take all three points with a 3-2 win, thanks to a late header by striker, Anthony Modeste, to steal all three points.

Koln will be looking for more of the same this Sunday when they return to the more familiar surroundings of their RheinEnergieStadion where the hosts have produced consistent displays so far in this Bundesliga campaign.

Sunday’s hosts have suffered just the one defeat at home so far this season whilst also collecting four wins and three draws which includes victories over Hertha Berlin, Bochum, Greuther Furth and most impressive of all, a 4-1 thrashing of Borussia M’gladbach.

Although Stuttgart have had the upper hand in the majority of recent exchanges between the two teams, Koln did record a 2-0 win away at Stuttgart in the German cup back in October.

Stuttgart continue to hover just above the relegation zone in the Bundesliga with only goal difference separating them and third from bottom placed Augsburg who currently occupy the relegation play-off spot.

Although the visitors have picked up recent wins against Mainz and Wolfsburg which have helped them just about keep their heads above water, Stuttgart were handed a heavy 5-0 thrashing at home by Bayern Munich just a few days ago and they now face a tricky outing to face a solid Koln outfit in their own backyard on Sunday afternoon.

The bigger picture shows that Stuttgart have won just three of their last15 matches overall in the Bundesliga, two of which were registered on home soil at their Mercedes-Benz-Arena.

Wins on the road have also been few and far between for Stuttgart whose two wins at Borussia M’gladbach and Wolfsburg out of a total of 12 away matches will have given the visitors scant consolation, especially as they’ve also been handed six defeats within this period as well.

In addition, Stuttgart have kept just two clean sheets in these last 12 away games which should see Koln have the upper hand here.
