Real Betis and Cadiz Aim to Build on Point from Last Week

The second round of Spanish La Liga fixtures for the 2021/22 season begin on Friday the 20th of August with a meeting between Real Betis and Cadiz. The match will take place at the Estadio Benito Villamarín and the hosts begin the weekend in 9th place with a point while the visitors are in 11th place also with a point to their name.

Real Betis come into the match having picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at Real Mallorca last weekend. Real Mallorca took the lead in the 25th minute and Real Betis found themselves 1-0 down at half time. However, it did not take long to get back on level terms in the second half and Real Betis scored the equaliser in the 59th minute thanks to an own goal.

That result means Real Betis are on a run of 12 consecutive undefeated matches in the league and they have proven difficult to beat having lost only 2 of their last 23 La Liga games.

Home form shows Real Betis are undefeated in their last 8 league games, winning each of their last 2 at the Estadio Benito Villamarín. Both teams have scored in 3 of their last 5 home La Liga fixtures and Real Betis have found the back of the net in 13 of their last 14 home league matches.

Cadiz started the 2021/22 La Liga season with a 1-1 draw at home against Levante. It was the away team who opened the scoring just before half time and it appeared as though Levante were going to take maximum points as Cadiz struggled to make the breakthrough in the second half. However, they kept persisting and Cadiz finally found the back of the net in the 90th minute to rescue a draw.

That result means Cadiz have won only 2 of their last 9 La Liga matches, with 4 of those games ending in a draw. Their recent away record has been poor and Cadiz have recorded just 2 wins in  their last 15 away La Liga matches.

Cadiz have had no problem finding the back of the net when playing away from home and have scored at least one goal in each of their last 9 away La Liga games. They have lost only one of their 5 most recent away league fixtures.

Looking ahead to the team news and Real Betis are without Christian Tello due to suspension. Alex Moreno, Marc Bartra, Youssouf Sabaly, and Diego Laínez are all on the treatment table.

Cadiz are also missing a few players and Alberto Perea, Santiago Arzamendia, José Mari, and Jon Ander Garrido are all likely to miss the game due to injury.

This should be a competitive match and we expect there to be little to separate the teams. Real Betis usually score when playing at home but Cadiz have a good record of scoring when playing on the road. Therefore, we could see this game end in a 1-1 draw.
