Sancho’s form overlooked because of Haaland’s impact

Norwegian starlet Erling Haaland has made a sensational start to his Dortmund career, firing home seven goals in his first three appearances for BVB. His performances have certainly been impressive since his January move from Salzburg.

Haaland’s displays have slightly taken the limelight away from England international winger Jadon Sancho, who has also been in sensational form of late in BVB’s recent revival.

Still only 19, Sancho has been one of the most productive players in the German Bundesliga scoring 12 goals and producing just as many assists in what has been a highly impressive campaign so far. The arrival of Haaland has certainly given Sancho another big target to hit.

The youngsters seem to have already built up a good rapport on the pitch and it is paying dividends.

Sancho’s good form is encouraging, as earlier in the season there was speculation that the England international had a poor relationship with BVB head coach Lucien Favre. That speculation led to rumours that the player wanted to leave the German club.

However, his current form suggests that he is very happy at Dortmund. He is still only young and has plenty of time to move on.

With BVB’s record of nurturing talented young players, Sancho looks to be in the right place to develop into an even better player in the future. The thought of the young winger getting better must be a frightening one for Bundesliga defences.

The performances and goals of Sancho have helped BVB back into the title race, which is developing into one of the most interesting Bundesliga title races for a long time, with four teams fighting it out to be crowned German champions.

With their two teenage stars and Marco Reus in attack, few teams in Europe let alone the Bundesliga have a better attack. Everybody connected with BVB will be thinking long may the youngsters thrive in yellow and black.
