Juventus desperate for win over Bologna on final day

Juventus know they must beat Bologna on Sunday to stand any chance of securing Champions League football for next season.

With just one game left to play in the 2020/21 Serie A campaign, Juventus find themselves fifth – one point behind fourth-place Napoli and third-place AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Bologna sit eleventh – three points behind tenth-place Verona and 34 points behind Juventus.

Bologna are enduring a poor end to the season, having failed to win any of their previous six league matches.

A run of four draws and two defeats has seen Bologna drop out of the top half, with their last win coming over a month ago.

It is also worth pointing out that Bologna have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their previous 13 Serie A encounters.

Looking at the bigger picture, Bologna have only managed to win ten of their 37 league games this season – picking up 11 draws and 16 defeats along the way.

On the flip side, Juventus are in real danger of missing out on a top-four finish for the first time in many years.

Having already surrendered the Scudetto to Inter Milan, the Old Lady really can’t afford miss out on Champions League qualification.

Interestingly, Juventus beat Inter 3-2 last weekend – thanks to a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo and a Juan Cuadrado brace.

But at the end of the day, they have been nowhere near the level of the newly-crowned Serie A champions throughout the campaign.

After going unbeaten across their opening 12 matches this term, each of Juve’s six losses this season have come in their last 25 games.

However, Juventus have won three of their previous four matches and will need to add another victory to their tally this weekend.

Head-to-head: Juventus have secured eight straight wins over Bologna and claimed a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture back in January.

It is also worth noting that Juventus have kept a clean sheet in six of their previous eight meetings with Bologna.

Team news: Bologna will be without Federico Santander, Aaron Hickey, Nicolas Dominguez, Mattias Svanberg and Danilo this weekend.

Thankfully for Andrea Pirlo, Juventus have no fresh injury concerns heading into the final weekend of the season.

Having beating Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final in midweek, Juventus look set to finish the season on a positive note.

Forebet predicts that Pirlo’s men will net over 2.5 goals en route to beating Bologna. However, both sides are likely to score.
