Dortmund aiming for seventh straight Bundesliga win against Leverkusen

On the final weekend of the 2020/21 German Bundesliga season, Borussia Dortmund welcome Bayer Leverkusen to Signal Iduna Park.

Leverkusen can only finish sixth, as they find themselves five points behind fifth-place Eintracht Frankfurt and five points ahead of seventh-place Union Berlin.

On the flip side, third-place Borussia Dortmund are guaranteed a top-four finish. They are level on 61 points with fourth-place Wolfsburg and four points ahead of fifth-place Frankfurt.

Dortmund secured Champions League football for next season following a remarkable run of six straight wins.

BVB have scored a combined total of 17 goals across their six-match hot streak – averaging just over 2.8 goals per game during that period.

It is also worth noting that Dortmund have only lost two of their previous 14 home encounters in all competitions.

Jadon Sancho is finishing the season in eye-catching form, while Erling Haaland is also continuing to score at a rapid rate.

As well as bagging two goals and one assist in the DFB-Pokal final triumph over RB Leipzig, Sancho has racked up two goals and two assists in his last two Bundesliga appearances.

Meanwhile, Haaland has chalked up a whopping 39 goals and 12 assists in 40 matches in all competitions this term.

On the other hand, Leverkusen have only managed to win one of their previous four league games and will have to settle for a Europa Conference League berth next season.

Having won just one of their previous 11 away games in all competitions, it’s safe to say that most of Leverkusen’s recent struggles have come on their travels.

To make matter worse for Bayer Leverkusen, they have failed to score in each of their last four away matches.

Leverkusen have spent the majority of the season inside the European qualification places but have slipped out of the top five at just the wrong time.

Head-to-head: Leverkusen can take confidence from the fact that they have won each of their last two meetings with Dortmund – scoring six goals in the process.

However, it is also worth pointing out that Dortmund have only lost two of their previous eight games against Bayer – picking up five wins and one draw along the way.

Team news: Dortmund currently have Marcel Schmelzer, Axel Witsel, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Youssoufa Moukoko, Mateu Morey Bauza and Marwin Hitz on the sidelines.

Bayer Leverkusen also have a length injury list, with key players like Lars Bender and Julian Baumgartlinger on the treatment table.

This matchup brings together two sides in contrasting form, meaning in-form Dortmund are likely to get the better of Leverkusen on the final day.

Forebet predicts that Dortmund will finish the season on a run of seven straight wins – scoring over 2.5 goals en route to beating Leverkusen.
