Although PSG extended their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 on the weekend to five matches with a 1-1 draw away from home at Rennes.

The Paris club will have viewed this result as two points lost, particularly as they’d taken a 1-0 lead and should have closed the game out.

Paris St. Germain now return home to their Parc des Princes ground where this upcoming fixture against bottom half opposition, Reims, has now become a ‘must-win’ clash for Mauricio Pochettino’s side as the hosts trail the current Ligue 1 leaders, Lille, by a three-point margin ahead of this weekend’s action.

PSG have won four of their last five matches though, having collected victories over Strasbourg, Saint-Etienne, Metz and Lens while also winning their last two matches at home on the trot.

The hosts are expected to be very much on the front foot here as they seek to keep the door open for the Ligue 1 title and this could produce a few goals as the hosts look to hold the ascendency at the Parc des Princes.

Reims sit in 13th place in Ligue 1 and possess a valuable five-point cushion above third from bottom Nantes who occupy the relegation play-off spot, so they should avoid any late dramas.

Reims have failed to win any of their last six matches though in the French top flight, drawing four and losing twice as the visitors have succumbed to defeats against Marseille and Monaco (both at home) while picking up useful points in draws with Rennes, Nice, Metz and Nimes.

However, Reims have put up stubborn resistance of late in Ligue 1 as the visitors have lost just three of their last 14 matches during this period and they’ve also been involved in a number of stalemates as well.

Indeed, Reims have drawn no fewer than nine of these 14 matches so if they’re to get anything out of PSG in Sunday’s clash, it looks likely that it could be a draw.

Reims have also put together a five-match unbeaten run on their travels which includes wins picked up at Nantes and Dijon, while the bigger picture shows that Reims have lost just two of their last 10 games on the road.

Nevertheless, PSG’s need appears to be greater and the hosts should get off to a bright start here and ensure that all three points stay in Paris.
