Bayern Munich to record straightforward win at Freiburg
3900

Mid-table Freiburg will play host to the Bundesliga title-holders, Bayern Munich, at their Schwarzwald-Stadion with very little to play for as the 9th placed hosts trail the top six and Bayer Leverkusen by a six-point margin with just two league matches remaining.

Freiburg head into this Saturday’s clash with Bayern Munich on the back of a resounding 4-1 win away from home at Koln on the weekend.

Although the hosts are returning to more familiar surroundings, they’re expected to come off second-best against the reigning champions.

Freiburg have produced mixed results throughout the majority of their matches in this season’s Bundesliga campaign and this is evident when looking at their overall record to date which consists of 12 wins, 8 draws and 12 defeats.

Wins against Bayer Leverkusen, Augsburg, Schalke and Koln have been sprinkled amongst five defeats within their last 10 matches overall in the German top flight, while results at home have actually been quite promising; just two defeats out of their last 12 matches at their Schwarzwald-Stadion gives Freiburg a chance here.

Bayern Munich have been crowned as champions in the Bundesliga following their 6-0 demolition job over Borussia Moenchengladbach which also handed the visitors a 10-point lead over 2nd placed RB Leipzig.

Bayern had previously suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat away from home at Mainz but this served to only delay the inevitable of picking up yet another domestic top flight title.

They’ll be confident that they can resume their winning momentum on the road at Freiburg on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors hold a commanding away record of  11 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses, scoring a total of 33 goals and conceding just 21, while their leading goalscorer and striker, Lewandowski (39 goals) continues to plunder goals in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich have also won six of their last eight matches on their travels, being halted only by Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz in recent weeks while also picking up important wins at Augsburg, Schalke, Hertha Berlin, Werder Bremen, RB Leipzig and Wolfsburg - the latter two effectively killing off the title race.

The visitors have also held the upper hand over Freiburg in recent exchanges, winning the last three meetings on the trot with 2-1, 3-1 and 3-1 wins respectively, so they look set for an away win here and could also cover the -1.5 asian handicap as well.
