AC Milan seek to end two-match losing streak against Benevento
2479

AC Milan went from topping Serie A just after Christmas to now sitting fifth in the standings. Coach Stefano Pioli has to turn around the team’s form quickly to get the side back into the top four and qualify for Champions League.

The Rossoneri are level on points with Napoli and Juventus, but sit outside the top four heading into matchday 34. They will fancy their chances against Benevento who are in 17th place. Benevento are on a five-match winless streak in Serie A.

They are level on points with Torino and Cagliari, but sit in the relegation zone thanks to a poor head-to-head record against those two teams. Benevento have a decent record against AC Milan over the course of their last three matches in Serie A, however.

In 2017-18, Benevento claimed a 2-2 draw against AC Milan at home before winning at San Siro 1-0. AC Milan went away to Benevento this season and claimed a 2-0 win in January.

AC Milan’s Franck Kessie scored a first half penalty to send the team into the halftime break up 1-0. Just after the break Rafael Leao scored a second goal from open play to send AC Milan onto the win to nil.

Pioli has no new injuries going into the game on Saturday. Benevento coach Filippo Inzaghi has three names on the team’s injury list going into the game. Striker Marco Sau is a doubt due to a hamstring injury.

Fellow forward Gabriele Moncini is a doubt due to bruising. Defender Alessandro Tuia is a doubt due to a calf issue. Benevento are winless in five straight games in Serie A. They were guilty of conceding goals during that time with 14 allowed. They did bag 10 goals.

AC Milan took 10 points from the last 18 on offer. They too were guilty of allowing goals as 10 were conceded. The Rossoneri did score 10 times.

Pioli’s team are in poor form at San Siro. They won just once over the course of their last six games at home. Home form has been part of the reason the Rossoneri have dropped out of the top four.

Despite their sagging form, AC Milan should claim a win this weekend against Benevento at home. With the Sorcerers struggling for points, the Rossoneri should turn around their form and claim a win. Expect both teams to get on the scoresheet and more than 2.5 goals.
