Torino and Parma to both score in relegation battle

Monday night wraps up this round of fixtures in Serie A with an important battle down near the foot of the Italian top flight table with 16th placed Torino playing host to second from bottom and almost doomed, Parma, at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Although there have been a sprinkling of defeats for Torino in recent weeks, the hosts have also managed to pick up vital wins against Cagliari, Sassuolo, Udinese and most impressive of all, a 3-1 home win against Roma, which has helped the hosts stay above the bottom three.

However, Torino are one of three teams sitting in 31 points prior to this weekend’s action and they head into this Monday night clash having suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Napoli.

The draw has featured prominently at home where Torino have been concerned with no fewer than eight stalemates within a total of 16 home games, while overall, Torino have drawn 13 of their 32 matches to date this season.

Considering the high amount of draws at home (5 of the 8 draws have also been score-draws), the goals market appeals here as 12 of Torino’s 16 home games have resulted in both teams scoring.

Parma find themselves in real trouble down near the foot of the Serie A table as the visitors sit second from bottom in the Italian top flight and 11 points adrift of safety with just five league matches remaining of their season to salvage their Serie A status.

To make matters worse, Parma have lost their last four matches on the trot having suffered defeats against AC Milan, Cagliari, Juventus and Crotone, while it’s five defeats from their last six matches after they managed a 2-0 home win against Roma back in mid-March.

That rare win over Roma has been Parma’s only highlight in what has otherwise been an extremely barren spell of results for the visitors, which has been one win from their last 24 matches overall.

Two of Parma’s three wins to date so far in this season’s campaign have been achieved on home turf at their Stadio Ennio Tardini while on the road, Parma have recorded just a single win to date this term.

An away win therefore seems highly unlikely but 13 of Parma’s 16 away matches have also seen both teams score and this looks the safest option here.
