Sampdoria will be keen to bounce back from their recent 1-0 defeat away from home at Sassuolo last time out in Serie A when they play host to an out-of-sorts Roma outfit this Sunday at their Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.

Sampdoria had previously posted back-to-back wins against Hellas Verona and Crotone but although the hosts occupy 9th place in the Serie A standings.

They trail Lazio and the top six by a significant 19-point margin so they have little to play for.

Nevertheless, Sampdoria may well fancy their chances of toppling a wobbling Roma side in this encounter despite their mixed results on home soil this season as they possess a home record of  7 wins, 2 draws and 7 defeats.

Goals have featured on a regular basis though where the hosts have been concerned as 11 of Sampdoria’s 16 home matches have produced over 2.5 goals and the goals market looks the best option for this clash against Roma.

Forward, Quagliarella (11 goals) looks the most likely for Sampdoria here.

As mentioned earlier, AS Roma have been wobbling of late in the Italian top flight as the visitors sit outside of the top six in 7th place and now trail 6th placed Lazio by a six-point margin following some ordinary performances recently.

Roma have managed to collect just the one win out of their last seven matches overall in Serie A which came in a narrow 1-0 home win over Bologna but four defeats within this period to Parma, Napoli, Torino and Cagliari now have the visitors scrambling to rekindle the kind of form that they produced earlier in the campaign in order to grab a top six finish.

Roma had made a promising start to the season as they’d lost just two of their opening 12 games, winning seven of these but recent results have shown a vulnerable side to the visitors and an away win here seems unlikely.

This especially looks to be the case when considering Roma have won just one of their last eight matches on their travels but again, the goals market appeals here as 12 of Roma’s 16 away matches have also produced 3 goals or more.

Midfielders, Veretout (10 goals) and Mkhitaryan (9 goals) look the most likely for Roma.

Both Sampdoria and Roma are capable of scoring and conceding goals and the over 2.5 goal mark looks appealing here.
