Napoli to bounce back with a win at Torino

Torino may have pulled themselves out of the relegation mire for the time being thanks to a four-match unbeaten run in Serie A but the hosts face a difficult looking challenge on Monday evening against Napoli despite holding home advantage at their Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Recent wins against Udinese and Roma in 1-0 and 3-1 victories respectively have been book-ended by draws with Juventus and Bologna which have seen Torino pull themselves three points clear of the relegation zone ahead of this weekend’s action.

Torino are certainly fighting tooth and nail to preserve their Serie A status as they’ve lost just three out of their last 14 matches overall as the hosts have put up dogged resistance while losing just one of their last nine matches at home as well.

However, with just two home wins from their last 17 matches on home soil, they still face a tough evening at the office on Monday especially as they’ve failed to beat Napoli in each of the previous 11 meetings against their visitors.

Onto Napoli then, and the visitors registered a morale-boosting 5-2 thrashing of Lazio at home in midweek to make it two wins from their last three matches in Serie A having previously recorded a 2-0 win away from home at Sampdoria.

Napoli still occupy 5th place in the Serie A standings but they’re now just two points behind the top four and Juventus and one of the prized Champions League spots for next season.

So in this case, there’s plenty at stake for Napoli here too.

The visitors are hitting their straps at just about the right time of the season as they’ve suffered just one defeat from their last 10 matches overall which was at Juventus.

Although, seven wins during this period have kept Napoli firmly in the frame for a possible top four finish.

Results away from home haven’t been entirely convincing but Napoli have won three of their last four games on the road.

They also possess a solid record overall against their hosts and will be looking to extend their hold over Torino on Monday evening as they look to close in on the top four.

The only possible threat to all three points for Napoli is perhaps Torino holding out for a draw but Napoli look the more likely to find a way to win here.
