In a repeat of last season’s final, Bayern Munich and PSG clash at the Allianz Arena for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday.
Bayern Munich claimed the bragging rights last year, meaning PSG will be desperate to gain revenge this time around.
Bayern claimed an impressive 1-0 win over title-rivals RB Leipzig on Saturday, opening up a seven-point lead at the Bundesliga summit in the process.
Saturday’s win means that Hansi Flick’s men have won each of their previous seven matches in all competitions. Better still, Bayern have only lost one of their last 16 games in all competitions.
In the Champions League, Bayern are currently enjoying a 19-match unbeaten streak, stretching back to last season.
Flick’s men scored 18 goals while conceding just five on their way to taking 16 points from a possible 18 during this season’s group stage.
In the round of 16, Bayern Munich claimed an eye-catching 6-2 aggregate victory over Lazio, winning 4-1 away and 2-1 at home.
On the other hand, PSG came through a tricky group. Despite losing two of their six group games, the French side finished above RB Leipzig, Manchester United and Istanbul Basaksehir in Group H.
Maurico Pochettino’s men then saw off Barcelona in the Round of 16, claiming a comfortable 5-2 aggregate victory.
However, the French champions aren’t having it all their own way back home and currently find themselves second in Ligue 1 – three points behind Lille.
Following a 1-0 defeat to Lille at the weekend, PSG have now lost three of their last six Ligue 1 matches and four of their previous ten.
On a brighter note, Paris St. Germain have scored in each of their last ten away games in the Champions League and have only lost one of their previous six.
Head-to-head: As we know, Bayern Munich claimed a 1-0 win over PSG in the 2019/20 Champions League final back in August.
The two sides also met during the 2017/18 Champions League campaign. PSG claimed a 3-0 home win on that occasion, before Bayern won the reverse fixture 3-1.
Team news: Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski will be absent through injury on Wednesday, along with Corentin Tolisso and Douglas Costa.
Meanwhile, PSG will be without Juan Bernat, Mauro Icardi, Marco Verratti, Danilo Pereira, Alessandro Florenzi and Layvin Kurzawa.
This game is likely to produce goals, although Bayern Munich are expected to be on the right end of a high-scoring encounter.
Forebet predicts that Bayern Munich will score over 2.5 goals on their way to victory over PSG on Wednesday, with the visitors also expected to get on the scoresheet.
