Can Spurs retain North London bragging rights over Arsenal?
13462

Arsenal and Tottenham will battle it out for the North London bragging rights on Sunday, with the Gunners hosting Spurs at the Emirates Stadium.

A three-match winning streak has seen Tottenham climb to seventh in the Premier League table – seven points ahead of tenth-place Arsenal.

Arsenal have lost three of their last six league games, although they have managed to secure wins over Leeds United and Leicester City in that time.

Defeats to Wolves, Aston Villa and Manchester City have prevented Mikel Arteta’s men from pushing for a European place, with a 1-1 draw coming against Burnley last time out.

Arsenal looked in complete control at Turf Moor and took the lead after just six minutes through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, a costly mistake from Granit Xhaka gifted Burnley an equaliser and ultimately cost the Gunners two points last weekend.

Only three teams have conceded more Premier League goals than Arsenal this term, yet Arteta’s men remain the lowest scorers in the top half.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have turned things around in recent weeks, winning each of their previous three league games.

A damaging run of five losses in six games across January and February saw Spurs slip out of the European spots.

However, victories over Burnley, Fulham and Crystal Palace have seen Jose Mourinho’s side climb back up the table lately.

Gareth Bale appears to have found some form, bagging four goals and two assists in his last four appearances, with braces coming against Burnley and Palace.

Harry Kane also enjoyed huge success against the Eagles last weekend, chipping in with two goals and two assists.

Head-to-head: Tottenham beat Arsenal 2-0 in the reverse fixture back in December, thanks to goals from Son Heung-min and Kane.

That means that Spurs are unbeaten in their last five meetings with the Gunners, picking up three wins and two draws in that time.

Team news: Arsenal only have one injury concern heading into the North London derby. Emile Smith Rowe could return to the side this weekend after missing recent games.

Serge Aurier looks set to return for Tottenham, although Giovani Lo Celso is likely to miss out with a back problem.

When you consider Tottenham’s recent upturn in form and their North London derby record over the past couple of years, all the signs point towards a Spurs win on Sunday.

Forebet predicts that Tottenham will score over 2.5 goals on their way to beating Arsenal, although the Gunners are also expected to get on the scoresheet.
