Verona secured a 3-0 away win against Benevento in midweek and now sit 8th in the Serie A table heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.
AC Milan also played on Wednesday night, but they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by mid-table side Udinese.
The last few meetings between these two clubs have been closely fought, with their last two encounters ending in score draws and the previous match producing a narrow 1-0 win for AC Milan.
However, over 2.5 goals have been scored in five of the pair’s last seven head-to-heads and AC Milan have claimed three wins during that period.
AC Milan’s form has dipped of late, but they remain 2nd in the table and still head into this weekend’s game as the slight form favourites. Pioli’s side have won two, drawn three and lost one of their last six matches in all competitions, while Udinese have managed to win two, draw tow and lost two during that same period.
Both teams have scored in four of both club’s last six outings, so clean sheets could come at a premium this weekend, and over 2.5 goals have been produced in four of the host’s and three of the visitor’s last six fixtures.
Verona have a few injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s clash, as Nikola Kalinic, Ebrima Colley and Kevin Rüegg have either been ruled out or will face late fitness tests.
AC Milan look set to be without the services of Sandro Tonali, Hakan Calhanoglu, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mario Mandzukic and Ismaël Bennacer for the trip to Verona as each is struggling with muscle injuries.
The last meetings between Verona and AC Milan, back in November, ended in a 2-2 draw and there is a good chance we will see goals once again when the pair lock horns on Sunday.
Neither clubs can claim to be in the best of form right now and that could make for a close and competitive 90-minutes.
AC Milan remain the favourites to win with all the major bookmakers but with Ibrahimovic out it’s unlikely to be a walk in the park for the Rossoneri.
