Win at Rennes could be vital in Lyon’s title challenge

For the first time in a long time, there seems to be a title race in Ligue One. Big-spending PSG usually dominates the French top-flight and run away with the title eventually.

That may still happen this season, but at this stage of the campaign, three or even four teams will believe they can claim the French crown.

One of the teams with title hopes are Lyon, who on Wednesday evening host Rennes at the Groupama Stadium.

The visitors recent league form has hindered their chances of sealing a European spot this season in the French top-flight. Julien Stephan’s team has failed to win in six league matches, having also suffered three straight defeats.

Poor defensive displays have been the key to their recent poor league results, as they have conceded at least two goals in all three of their straight defeats.
