Marseille could sneak the points over Nice

Marseille will be hoping to end their seven-match winless run in Ligue 1 on Wednesday night when they play host to 14th placed Nice at their Orange Velodrome as the hosts look to lift themselves further up the top half of the division.
Marseille have suffered four defeats within this period with losses to Nimes, Lens, Monaco and PSG but they’ve also picked up points in draws with Dijon, Lens and Bordeaux which has enabled the hosts to remain in the top half of Ligue 1.
However, the bigger picture shows that Marseille have managed to pick up just one win out of their last 11 matches overall along with losing their last three matches on the trot at home but prior to these defeats, Marseille had put together a seven-match unbeaten run.
Victories this season at home against Bordeaux, Nantes, Monaco and Montpellier however, show that Marseille are capable of producing results at home while their previous record against Nice is an impressive one.
Marseille have held the upper hand in previous exchanges against Nice having won the previous six meetings on the trot against their visitors.
Wednesday night’s visitors, Nice, dropped down to 14th place in the Ligue 1 standings following their 2-1 defeat away from home at PSG on the weekend which actually became Nice’s third defeat on four matches.
Previous losses to Saint-Etienne and Monaco have outweighed Nice’s sole success during these last four matches which came in the shape of a 3-0 home win against Angers, while the bigger picture shows that Nice have collected just two wins out of their last 10 matches overall.
Nice had earlier made a promising start to this season’s campaign in Ligue 1 as the visitors had lost just two of their opening nine matches, a sequence of results which include five victories that saw Nice register wins over Lens, Strasbourg, Nantes, Saint-Etienne and Angers.
However, since that encouraging start, Nice have recorded just a further three wins from their subsequent 15 matches which includes winning just one of their last five matches on their travels and along with their previous poor head-to-head record against Marseille, it looks like Nice will have their work cut out on Wednesday night at the Orange Velodrome.
