The race for the Champions League spots in the Bundesliga this season could be more competitive than ever.

Many people have already written off Mainz’s survival chances this season. However, the arrival as head coach of Bo Svensson has produced something of a revival in the visitors.
They head into this clash on the back of two wins in their previous three Bundesliga matches, including a 1-0 home win over Union Berlin.
The wins have moved Mainz to within four points of the relegation play-off spot. The teams directly above them may be getting slightly nervous. However, the likelihood of an away win seems slim, as the visitors have lost seven of their previous ten league matches on their travels.
