Elche set to hold Celta in La Liga
3096

If the battle for survival in La Liga continues in a similar vein, half of the teams in the Spanish top-flight could be embroiled in the fight.

For example, tenth place Celta Vigo host 18th place Elche on Friday night, but the home side is eight points clear of the visitors and six clear of the drop zone.

Celta may be in midtable, but they will be nervously looking over their shoulders at the bottom three. Eduardo Coudet’s team have failed to win in six league matches, but have drawn their last three games in the Spanish top-flight.

A highly creditable 2-2 draw at league leaders Atletico Madrid last time out in La Liga was their third straight draw in the league.

Celta have been poor at the back in La Liga of late, as only three teams in the Spanish top-flight have conceded more goals than the home side.

The Galicians have failed to win in their last two home matches in the league but had won their previous four league matches on home soil.

Elche currently find themselves 19th place in La Liga, but just two points from safety. The visitors have been unable to gain any vital league wins of late, as they head into the clash on the back of a six-game winless run. Similarly to the home team, Elche have suffered defensive problems this season.

The visitors have the worst defensive record in the Spanish top-flight and have conceded at least two goals in four of their last five league matches.

Elche have been poor on their travels of late, failing to win any of their last seven away games in the Spanish top-flight.

Forebet predicts that both teams search for a win will continue and that this clash will finish in a low-scoring draw.
